On a bright Saturday morning in February, Ryerson's Spare a Thought for Dementia team met at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Toronto to participate in the 28th Annual Walk for Memories event hosted by the Alzheimer's Society of Toronto. Over 2000 families, companies, and volunteers fundraised and participated across the GTA to:
Provide personalized music players to people with dementia
Train thousands of PSWs and frontline healthcare workers to provide personcentered care
Train businesses and organizations across Toronto to be dementia-friendly
To provide free support groups and individual counselling to families Ryerson's T4D had tremendous success with 24 participants participating on the day of the event. Furthermore, we raised over $1,540.00. Our success would not have been possible without the support of the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing.
